What is your favorite band? Favorite type of music?
My current favorite band that I listen to all the time is Gojira- metal titans from Bayonne, France, now based in Brooklyn. My second favorite band is Norma Jean- metalcore geniuses from Atlanta. My favorite type of music is metal. I also really like bands that have siblings in them- Chevelle, Pantera, Gojira (again). To me there feels like a particular bond between family members that rock.

I would be remiss not to mention Meshuggah. Meshuggah, Norma Jean and Gojira are the trifecta of favorites right now. Oh, and Mastodon. OK, that’s it!

What are your five “desert island discs” that you’d want to have if stranded on an island?
Five desert island discs? One is easy- “What To Do When You’re Dead” by emo masters Armor For Sleep. That album is excellent almost all the way through.

The rest would be tough- I’m going to say:
“Legend”, Bob Marley’s greatest hits album
“Ten” by Pearl Jam
“Appetite for Destruction” by Guns N Roses
“Dookie” by Green Day

What is the best live show you’ve ever seen?
When I was in college I saw Smashing Pumpkins/Pearl Jam/Red Hot Chili Peppers when they toured together. The Pumpkins and Pearl Jam were so young, energetic, and hungry- the show was amazing to me.

I’ve seen Gojira twice and live they sound like the very fabric of the universe being torn apart by giants. Amazing!

Most memorable show you played at?
I was in a band in the 90s that played at CBGBs. The crowd was not big unfortunately, but we sounded amazing. The PA system there was legendary.

Favorite drink?
Guiness
